Retro Racket Revolution Released!

I'm pleased to announce the release of my first-ever full game, Retro Racket Revolution!

The game is a Breakout / Arkanoid clone, a fan remake of the game "Batty", published by Elite Systems in 1987. You can find out more about Batty on the World of Spectrum page.

I decided to create RRR having become exhausted with Darskerry Redemption, the game I've poured my heart and soul into for the past two years or so. The scope and scale of an RPG have proven to be vast, and I found myself feeling overwhelmed as a one many hobby developer. So, I decided to take a step back and focus on something far more manageable, so that I could put into action what I've learned over the last few years and have some hope of finishing the project within a decent time frame. That's not to say it didn't take a lot of work and effort. A key decision I made with RRR was that I would write it all myself, without relying on 3rd party plugins or code, so everything, bar the music and some UI elements, are my own work. I confess to using Dall-E to create the games sprites, but each one has been touched up by hand.

It's been a blast putting it all together, and I do enjoy playing the game and reliving those moments from over 4 decades ago. My kids like playing it too, as well as playing around with the level editor!

I hope folk see the game, give it a go and have some fun. If you're one of the few, please do drop me a comment and share your thoughts, suggestions and anything else.
