I've uploaded a new build, mainly focussed on bug fixes and platform updates. Details below:
Bug Fixes
- Death handled correctly, the camera doesn't attach itself back to the player's dead body location after respawning.
- Player death in the water now results in a drowning animation.
- Inventory is carried over correctly after respawning.
- Quest state is no longer carried over to a new game, so re-starting no longer results in a progress-breaking bug where "I Had a Dream" can't be progressed.
- Load and Save game options are re-enabled in the pause menu.
- Fixed the issue where the player's first death didn't trigger the death animation.
- Fixed subsurface scattering issue in player skin shader.
- Fixed issue with terrain details (flowers and grass) "flipping" at different distances from the camera.
- Reduced main map "point of interest" label size and centred it over the POI.
New Features / Enhancements
- I've added more "default fog" that enhances the world's overall feel. Let me know if you think otherwise!
- Added more detail to the "Mortlake" settlement location.
- I've increased the number and frequency of animal spawns in the game world.
- This will have an impact on performance, and I'm testing out different combinations to get the right balance. I might add this as a performance option in the next build.
- The performance tab now has some useful presets. I suggest the following as a baseline:
- DLSS: Off
- Quality: Standard
- Target FPS: 30
- vSync: Every second frame
Known Issues
- Gamepad mouse controller not working properly.
- The "My Dear Hunter" quest is bugged, spawned deer isn't recognised as the quest objective.
- DLSS causes issues with GPU Instancer culling.
Internal
- Updated Unity to 2021.3.12f1
- GeNa updated to 3.4.0.
- I've Implemented "GPU Instancer" for terrain details and trees. Hoping this gives us a good boost in FPS while maintaining high-quality visuals.
