February 2022 release 1 (22.02_01)


Our first release of February has been focussing on the UI and overall game experience. Lots of nice additions and some fixes, preparing the foundations for some big gameplay and Quest features that I'm looking to include in the March set of releases.

I've also set up a Discord server where everyone is free to come along and make suggestions and give feedback on the game! All welcome and all thoughts and ideas will be considered!

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a number of inconsistencies in the sounds of Animals and Creatures.
  • Moved floating rock from The Forest.

New features / enhancements

  • New Journal UI - press J or options on a gamepad to open.
  • New Inventory UI - press I or start on a gamepad to open.
  • New Dialog UI.
  • New icon and custom cursor.
  • Quest objective markers and quest giver markers are now added to minimap on accepting a quest.
  • Consistent UI and font applied across the game for greater immersion.
  • New skippable intro at the beginning of the game.
  • Minimap semi-transparent background added for better contrast.
  • Docile animals (e.g. deer, stag, boar etc) are will flee from creatures, rather than wait around to be killed.
  • Tweaked Enemy creatures to slow them down a little.
  • Added new Credits scroller, listing all assets used in the creation of the game.

Internal

  • Refactored Animal and Creature to inherited Living Thing.
  • Added automation to Build Door - colliders, triggers and action prompts are now added and configured automatically to all doors.
