July 2022 release 2 (22.07_02)


Woops, bug fix time! A few whoppers in the July release there, resolved with this patch:

Bug Fixes

  • Player selection now starts with the selected player! Woopsy!
  • Increased minimum spawn distance to prevent creatures from spawning right in front of the player.
  • Decreased spawn time, preventing the ghostly, transparent spawns from appearing.
  • Restored <ESC> key to toggle pause, though you can also use <P>.
  • Removed some components from the static spider on the main menu that were causing errors in the log.

New Features / Enhancements

  • Added "Core Quality" drop-down in Video options. This selects between one of 3 quality levels: High Quality, Balanced, and Performance. I'm still tweaking these settings but hopefully, I can tune these to give a consistent experience across multiple platforms.
  • Added some experimental code to try to align creatures with the sloping terrain.
  • Added experimental "Main Map", accessible via the <H> key.
  • Added a "Graphy" FPS counter, as very interested in "average FPS" folks get on the various quality settings. Use <CTRL> + <ALT> + <D> to hide it.
